Warren Dale Collins

Warren “Dale” Collins, 92, of Fremont, OH passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Memorial Hospital. He was born on February 3, 1921 in Gibsonburg, OH to John M. and Margaret (Lacy) Collins. He was a 1939 graduate of Fremont Ross High School.

Dale served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII on transport ships in the Pacific and was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, the Philippine Liberation Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.

Dale married Dorothy J. Collins on February 7, 1944 in Escanaba, MI and she survives. He was an Assembler at Whirlpool Corporation for twenty-eight years and retired in 1986. Dale was a Life member of VFW Post #2947 and a Life member of the Loyal Order of Moose. He was an avid tennis player and fan, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Dale is survived by his wife, Dorothy J. Collins, Fremont, OH; children, Terry (Rose) Collins, Petaluma, CA, Maurice “Moe” (Shirley) Collins, Greenville, SC, Pat (Barb) Collins, Beloit, IL, Casey (Nancy) Collins, Lake Oswego, OR, Matt (Jo) Collins, Denver, CO; siblings, Barbara (Roger) Smith, Fremont, OH, Jack Collins, Lima, OH; grandchildren, Doug, Eric, Brad, Jennifer, Kathryn, Bridgid and Kevin Collins; great grandchildren, Mickey, Hunter, Laysha, Jessica and Emma Collins, Connor and Kyleigh Young; nephew, Mike (Suzie) Wing, Fremont, OH and many other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert and Lee Collins.

Visitation: Saturday, February 16, 2013, 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH

Service: Saturday at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Jody Rice officiating.
