Walter F. Harkness, Jr., 77 of Fremont, OH passed away at his home on February 10, 2017. He was born on March 25, 1939 in Fremont the son of Walter and Bessie (Slattery) Harkness, Sr. He was a 1957 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. Walt served in the US Navy from 1958 to 1962 and received the Good Conduct Medal.
Walt worked as a raw materials inspector for Union Carbine for thirty-five years until he retired in 1997. He was a member of the Fremont Eagles, Moose, V.F.W., American Legion and Ducks Unlimited. He enjoyed playing the bass guitar, fishing, camping and spending time outdoors.
Walt is survived by his children, Dawn (John) Roca, Fremont, Wade (Lisa) Harkness and Anthony Harkness both of Austin, TX, Traci Harkness, Fremont and Scott Harkness, Bowling Green, OH; companion of thirty-five years, Christine Tusing, Fremont; sisters, Sandra (Jack) Weaver and Linda Sorg both of Fremont; sister-in-law, Karen Harkness, Fremont; grandchildren, Alexia (Craig) Illig, Kyrie and Lenee Roca and Brittni Harkness and six great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Douglas and Raymond Harkness.
