Vincent J. Swint, 84, of Fremont, OH passed away on June 28, 2013 at his home. He was born on May 29, 1929 in Bellevue, OH to Jacob and Estella (Schwartz) Swint. He was a 1948 graduate of St. Joseph Central Catholic High School.
Vince served in the US Air Force from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean Conflict. He received the Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Vince married Lucille “Luce” M. Devereaux on February 5, 1955 at St. Joseph Catholic Church and she preceded him in death on November 22, 2001.
Vince worked as a Union Plaster for many years until he retired in 1999.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the American Legion, Moose and life member of the V.F.W. He was a founder of the Community Thanksgiving Day Dinner and was a recipient of the Golden Deeds Award. Vince was not only an outstanding athlete in his younger years but carried his love of sports to the end in particularly Notre Dame Football. He was a devoted father who enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Vince is survived by his children, Pamela M. (Chris) Widman, Davidson, NC, Vincent G. (Holly) Swint, Westerville, OH, Jeffrey A. (Margie Roberts) Swint, Vermillion, OH and Cheryl A. (Tim) Colston, Fremont, OH; sisters, Millie (Louis) Lee, Tiffin, OH and Rosella Copley, Pickerington, OH; ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lucille M. Swint; brother, Bernard Swint; sisters, Mary Watts and Rita Link.
Visitation: Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. with a vigil at 7:30 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St., Fremont, OH.
Mass of Christian Burial: Tuesday, July 2, 2013; 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 550 Smith Rd., Fremont, OH with Fr. Jacob Gordon officiating.
Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery with military honors provided by the American Legion and V.F.W.
