Vernon “Jr” King, 91, of Fremont, OH passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at the Rutherford House in Fremont. He was born on June 26, 1925 in Attica, OH, the son of Vernon J. and Anita (Angene) King. He was a 1943 graduate of Attica High School.
Jr. married Jealea M. Holt on October 29, 1949 in Greenup, KY and she preceded him in death on January 22, 2013. He was a farmer and truck driver at Gries Seed Farms for fifty-one years where he retired at 63 years of age.
Jr. was a member of the Fremont Eagles and attended Grace Community Church. He enjoyed gardening, working outside in his yard, traveling, listening to country music and being a truck driver and farmer. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
Jr. is survived by his children, Deborah (Leroy) Stratton, Terry King, Cindy (Dale) Stout and Cheryl (Larry) Bruggeman all of Fremont; daughter-in-law, Gladys King, of Fremont, siblings, Evelyn Nagle and Lewis King both of Attica, Mary Zellner of Tiffin; grandchildren, Dave (Angela), Dorran, Anthony (Tiffany), Terra (Matt), Brandi (Johnny), Brandon, Brylee, Carrie (Ryan) and Lisa; nineteen great grandchildren; caregiver/dear friend, Rachel Garner.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jealea M. King; son, Wayne King; daughter-in-law, Karen King; grandsons, Douglas Saam and Jon King; siblings, Richard, Raymond “Jake”, Kenneth, Charles King and Helen May.
Visitation: Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH.
Service: Monday, March 6, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with an hour of visitation prior to the service. Pastor Forrest Kirchenbauer will officiate.
Burial: Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde, OH
Memorials: Grace Community Church, Rutherford House or Hospice of ProMedica Memorial Hospital.
