Vernon J. Kaiser, 82, of Fremont, OH passed away at home on August 1, 2013. He was born on July 27, 1931 to William J. and Vernice J. (Terry) Kaiser. Vernon married Alice Kirkendoll on September 3, 1960 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Clyde and she preceded him in death on February 11, 1996. He then married Patricia McConnell on June 28, 1996 at Fremont Baptist Temple and she preceded him in death on December 30, 2010.
Vernon served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He then worked for Norfolk-Southern Railroad as a section man until he retired in 1993. He was a member of the Fremont Baptist Temple, American Legion, Clyde Moose and the Handyman Club. Vernon loved to do woodworking and crocheting afghans.
Vernon is survived by his son, John Kaiser; step-daughter, Cheryl Duncan and Glenn Ann Ervin; brother, Lynn H. Kaiser; sister, Nancy Fisher all of Fremont; one grandson, eight step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Alice Kaiser; second wife, Patricia Kaiser; step daughter, Carla Duncan; four brothers and three sisters.
Visitation: Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home, 425 E. State St., Fremont, OH.
Service: Monday, August 5, 2013; 11:00 a.m. at Fremont Baptist Temple 1150 South County Road 198, Fremont, OH with a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. with Pastor James Menkhoff officiating.
Burial: McPherson Cemetery, Clyde, OH with military services provided by the Clyde VFW and American Legion.
