Teresa “Terrie” Maureen Barger

Teresa “Terrie” Maureen Barger, 62, of Fremont, OH, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Thursday, December 21, 2023.  She was born on October 9, 1961 in Fremont, OH to Benner H. Massie and Judith (Hartman) Hughes.  Terrie was a 1980 graduate of Clyde High School.

Following high school Terrie work at St. Francis in Green Springs, OH.  She then went on to work at Whirlpool for many years.  Terrie was a former member of the Fremont Moose Lodge, the “Ladies Rack & Que” pool league and attended the Fremont cosmetology school, Faces.  She enjoyed riding her Harley, driving her hooptie through snow drifts, being outdoors, collecting eagles and pigs, watching cooking shows but above all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  Terrie was proud to celebrate her upcoming one-year anniversary of sobriety with alcohol this coming March.

Terrie is survived by her daughter, Alysha (Cody Wetzel) Barger, Fremont, OH; grandchildren, Jewelyannah, Harleigh, Dakota, Bryson, Audree, James, Chloee; mother, Judith Hughes, Clyde, OH; siblings, Tina (Mike) Roeser, Clyde, OH, Tanna (Greg Benninghoff) Massie, Sandusky, OH, Tom Massie, Perrysburg, OH, Louie Massie, Clyde, OH, Skip (Sue) Hughes, Toledo, OH, Pat (Fred) Kirk, of Michigan, Mel (Dave) Rodriguez, Clyde, OH, Cindy Gonyer, Holland, OH, LuAnn Neal, Toledo, OH; lifetime friends in Florida, Tony & Lea Treen and Jackie (Robison) Bentrim; step children, Aimee Martin and Josh (Tara) Kiser and their children.

She was preceded in death by her father, Benner H. Massie; siblings, Chris Massie, Tim Massie, Tracey Massie, Duane Hughes Sr, Don Hughes Sr, Etta Williams; stepfather, Oatha “Spike” E. Hughes Jr and the love of her life of fifteen years and fiancé who passed away on January 9, 2017, Dan Kiser. 

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH 43420.

A Memorial Service will be held following the visitation, beginning at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
