Sybil M. Harman, 83, of Fremont, OH passed away surrounded by her family at her home on Sunday, October 16, 2016. She was born January 9, 1933 in Fremont to Edward and Marie (Nusbaumer) Rothgery. She was a 1951 graduate of St. Joseph High School and received a Nursing Degree from Mercy School of Nursing in Toledo, OH.
Sybil married John L. Harman, Sr. on February 12, 1955 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fremont and he preceded her in death on June 23, 2011. Sybil was a Registered Nurse at Memorial Hospital Obstetrics Department from 1954 until she retired in January of 1998. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Catholic Nurse’s Association. Sybil enjoyed reading, camping, cooking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
The family would like to give a special “Thank You” to her friends that visited and gave her comfort throughout her illness.
Sybil is survived by her sons, David (Helen), Waynesboro, VA, Thomas (Sandy), Mark (Alisa) both of Fremont, John (Deanne), Apex, NC; daughter, Susan (Robert) Kuss, Fremont, OH; grandchildren, Elizabeth Valero, Brian, Bradley, Laurie, Sarah, Joseph, Christina, Lauren, Shelby and Heather Harman, Michael and Katie Kuss; step grandchildren, Herby Smith, Sara Garza and Amy Hatcher; great grandchildren, Mattea, Isaac, Cormac and Graham and thirteen step-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John L. Harman, Sr.; son, Timothy Harman; sisters, Alice Beatty and Ann Rothgery.
Visitation: Thursday from 2 – 4 pm and 6 – 8 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, October 21, 2016, 11:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 550 Smith Rd, Fremont, with Fr. Chris Kardzis officiating.
Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery
Memorials: Bishop Hoffman Catholic Schools or Hospice of ProMedica Memorial Hospital.
