Steven B. Minnich, 64, of Fremont, OH passed away after a brief illness with his family by his side. He was born on April 25, 1959, in Adrian, MI to Betty J (Haggerty) Minnich Havens. Steve married Alison White on October 17, 1986, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fremont, OH and she survives. Steve was a 1977 graduate of Fremont St Joseph Catholic High School where he played football, basketball, and baseball. He currently worked at Crown Battery in Fremont, OH. Prior to Crown Battery he was a paint foreman for Chemi-Trol for 30 years.
Steve cherished time with his family & friends and especially cook outs, his pontoon boat with Mark Celek, and holidays gatherings. Steve was a member of the Fremont Elks Club 169.
Steve is survived by his wife of thirty-seven years, Alison Minnich, mother Betty Havens, step-sisters Beth (Larry) Lacumsky, Christine (Vjeko ) Dedic, and step-brother, Willis Havens; sisters- in -law, Beverly (Chuck) Fassnacht and Anita (Derrick) Hines; nephews, Matthew and Nathan Fassnacht, David (Brooke) Fassnacht and Aaron and Megan Hines; God children, Lee and Maxwell Celek and Leslie Celek Kippert. He also loved his dogs, Joey and Nick and his beloved cat, Kermie. Anyone on Collinwood could hear Steve calling Kermie’s name to come inside.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, John and Sophie Haggerty, brother, Kevin Minnich, step- father, Karl Havens father and mother-in-law, Leonard and Rose White and nephew, Alex Fassnacht.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with a service to follow at 1:00 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E State St., Fremont, OH.
