Steve Karlovetz

Steve Karlovetz, 61, of Fremont, OH passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 9, 2024. Steve was born on August 10, 1963 to Richard and Barbara (Halbisen) Karlovetz in Fremont. Steve was a 1981 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. Steve attended OSU where he met his life long friends. 

Steve has been the owner and operator of the Ballville E-Z Shop for twenty-three years. Prior to taking over the E-Z Shop in 2001 from his parents, Steve worked for several other businesses including, Dr. Hull’s Veterinarian, and Carfagna’s Italian Market which was a pivotal point in his career which led him to owning the Ballville E-Z Shop. Steve enjoyed building his business, tinkering and traveling. He had his own personal grape vineyard which he enjoyed when he wasn’t busy at the store. If you knew Steve, you would know he was always on the go, ready to start a new project. Steve was caring, compassionate, and giving. He loved his employees, customers and community as much as he did his family and friends.

Steve is survived by his loving companion of thirty-five years, Dianna Bess of Fremont; mother, Barbara Karlovetz; siblings, Sharon Wright, John Karlovetz, William “Bill” (Carolyn) Karlovetz, all of Fremont; nieces and nephews, Casey (Amber) Wright, Ann Marie Wright, Jennifer (Jason) Shoemake, Brooke (Jeremy) Hauser, Mackenzie Shoemake, Ava Jones, Makayla Shoemake, Cooper Hauser, and Sterling Hauser; great-nephew Abel; sibling-in-laws, Teresa (Mike) Jones and Jill Bess.

He is preceded in death by his father, brother-in-law, Gary Wright, brother-in-law, Rob Bess; father-in-law, Robert “Bob” Bess; mother-in-law Cinda “Carol” Bess. 

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory. 425 E. State St. Fremont, OH 43420.

Funeral Services will take place on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at 11 a.m., with an hour of visitation prior at the funeral home. 

Burial will follow services at St. Joseph Cemetery, Fremont, OH.

Luncheon will take place following funeral services at the Fremont VFW, 204 Birchard, Ave., Fremont, OH 43420.
