Rufus Jerome Martin

Rufus “Jerome” Martin, 73, of Fremont, OH passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at his home. Jerome was born on July 31, 1951 to Charlie and Illey (Weems) Martin in Abbeville, AL. He graduated from Henrey County Training School in Alabama. 

Jerome worked for Whirlpool until he retired after thirty years of service. He enjoyed basketball, his Grand Prix, old cars and boxing. He was an avid fan of the Michigan Wolverines and the Chicago Bulls. Jerome took great pride in his cars and always kept them spotless inside and out. 

Jerome is survived by his daughter, Rasha Yarbrough; grandson Asante Yarbrough; great-grandchildren, Cameron LeBlanc-Yarbrough, Zyla Winfrey-Yarbrough; siblings, Earnestine Martin, Janice Spann, Annie (Kenneth) Price and James (Stevie) Martin; best friend, Marlon Turner, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Charlie Martin Jr, Marion Spann, Robert Martin and Willie Martin. 

Visitation will take place on Friday, February 28, 2025 from 12-2 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory., 425 E. State St. Fremont, OH 43420.
