Roy “Gene” Eugene Yeager, 77, of Fremont, OH passed away on December 11, 2024 at Bethesda Care Center. He was born on July 15, 1947 in Fremont, OH the son of George and Lola (Hite) Yeager. Gene was a 1965 graduate of Fremont Ross High School.
Gene was a surveyor for fifty years. He began his career as the deputy surveyor for Sandusky County and then began Roy E Yeager Surveying until he retired in 2024. Gene was a life-long active member at Eastside Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed history, Ham Radios, collected many surveying items and working the election polls for many years. Gene also enjoyed camping and was involved with the Boy Scouts for many years. He loved the Ohio State Buckeyes, eating Hibachi and his grand dogs, Ceasar, George and Retta.
Gene is survived by his children, Angela (Dustin Hasselbach) Wood, Oak Harbor and Kevin Yeager, Maumee; granddaughters, Tory Wood, Oak Harbor, Darian Yeager, Pennsylvania and Kallie Yeager, Maumee; brother, William (LuAnne) Yeager, Fremont; sister-in-law, Kathy Porath, Pemberville; nieces and nephews, William “Bill” (Sherry) Yeager, Rodney Yeager, Wendy (Ted Thomas) St. Clair, Jennifer (Gregg) Hensley and companion, Nancy Hawk.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles “Tom” Yeager and nephew, Jeffery Yeager.
Visitation will take place on Monday, December 16, 2024 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home, 425 E State St., Fremont, OH.
Memorials can be made to Eastside Presbyterian Church or Sandusky County Dog Kennel.
