Ronald E. Gierhart

Ronald E. Gierhart, 79, of Fremont, OH passed away on March 19, 2025 at the Cleveland Clinic. He was born on January 21, 1946 in Lima, OH the son of Ralph and Eileen (Diringer) Gierhart. Ron was a 1964 graduate of Fremont Ross High School.

Ron married Karen Forgatsch on October 18, 1979 at Grace Lutheran Church and she survives. Ron was a manager at Buckeye Mart/Fisher Big Wheel in Fremont and Fostoria until they closed. He then managed Heck’s in Port Clinton and then became the district manager for various grocery store suppliers until he retired in 2006.

Ron was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. He was an avid Ohio State football fan and enjoyed golfing and fishing. Ron most of all loved to spend time with his family and enjoyed attending his grandsons’ sporting events.

Ron his survived by his wife of forty-five years, Karen Gierhart; children, Michelle (Terry) Veleba and Matt (Mindy Wyss) Retter all of Fremont; grandsons, Alex Veleba, Wakeman, OH, Kyle (Gabriella Gonzalez) Veleba, Dublin, OH and Cody Bowman, Fremont; siblings, Janice Davisson, Fremont, Tim (Val) Gierhart, Oswego, IL and Dave (Mary) Gierhart, Clyde; sisters-in-law, Mary Jo (Rick) Rogers, Tiffin and Marsha Forgatsch, Fremont and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Angela Gierhart; brothers-in-law, Roy Davisson and Scott Forgatsch.

It was Ron’s wish to have private services at a later date.

Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, Fremont, OH.
