Ronald “Chick” L. Allan, 88, of Fremont, OH passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at ProMedica Memorial Hospital. He was born on September 18, 1928 in Wayne County, OH to Archibald and Etta Mae (Shanklin) Allan. He was a 1947 graduate of Mount Eaton School.
Chick served in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict from January 16, 1951 to January 6, 1953 and was awarded the Army Occupation Medal (Germany). He married Lila Haas on August 26, 1950 at Grace Lutheran Church and she preceded him in death on February 27, 2003.
Chick was a longtime Truck Driver retiring from Signal Delivery in Clyde. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, the Fremont Eagles, Moose, VFW and American Legion.
He was also a member of the McDonald’s Coffee Club. Chick enjoyed traveling, camping and spending time with his family.
Chick is survived by his children, Cynthia L. (David) Weickert, Tiffin, OH, Brent (Kay) Allan, Fremont, OH, Amy (Don) Simerly, Amelia, OH, Ron (Tammy) Allan, Crystal River, FL; sister, Margaret Singhaas, Dalton, OH; companion, Janet Magrum, Fremont, OH; Janet’s children, Sharon (Stanley) Klotz, Constance Magrum, Tirrell (Robert) Mosser, Daniel (Laurie) Magrum, Gary (Lori) Magrum; grandchildren, Christine and Allan Weickert, Gregory Simerly, Brad, Jake (Ashley), Danny and Brent Allan; great grandchildren, Elijah, Kaliyah, Weston, Evelyn, Jaxon and Quinton Weickert; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lila Allan; brothers, John, Richard and Lester Allan; sisters, Mary Studer, Arlene Schafter, Dora Gray and Mildred Luers.
Visitation: Sunday from 2 – 5 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH.
Service: Monday, March 13, 2017, 10:30 am at the funeral home with Pastor Matt Wheeler officiating.
Burial: Lindsey Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the American Legion and VFW.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Hospice of ProMedica Memorial Hospital or School of Hope.
