Ronald and Susan Payne

Ronald Alan Payne, 73 and Susan Marie Payne, 63 both of Fremont, OH passed away unexpectedly on December 27, 2024. Ron was born on October 5, 1951 in Tiffin, OH the son of Wesely and Bernice (Straub) Payne. Ron attended Tiffin Columbian High School. Ron served in the US Marine Corps and worked in union construction for many years until he retired. 

Sue was born on June 4, 1961 in Sandusky, OH the daughter of Ronald and Bernita (Schleter) Herr. Sue was a graduate of Fremont Ross High School. Sue was previously a manager at K-Mart until they closed and then worked at Bassett’s Market in Port Clinton until she retired. 

Ron and Sue both enjoyed mushroom hunting, cooking and were very generous to others. They showed their love through preparing food for others. Ron also enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Ron is survived by his mother, Bernice Payne, Upper Sandusky; children, Tammy (Larry) Sheets, Sycamore, OH, Kimberly Payne, Tiffin and Skip (Carrie) Payne, Thurmont, MD, grandchildren, Thomas, Audrey, Robert, Shellie, Allyssa, Cole, Emily, Linzi and Skyler; six great grandchildren; brothers, Steve Payne, Sycamore, OH and Chris Payne, Tiffin, OH.

Sue is survived by her mother, Bernita Herr, Fremont; son, John (Robin Swanson) Moreland, Pemberville, OH; sister, Robin (Gary Wagner) Armentrout, Fremont.

Ron is preceded in death by his father; sisters-in-law, Debra and Sandra Payne. Sue is preceded in death by her father.

It is Ron and Sue’s wish to have no service.
