Robert Howard Moyer

Robert Howard Moyer, 95, of Fremont, OH passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was born on July 23, 1928 to Howard and Adelaide (Rectenwald) Moyer in Fremont. Bob was a 1946 graduate of St. Joseph High School. Bob served as an electrician in the United States Navy from 1946 to 1948. He received his Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Detroit.

Bob married Charline Fae Thompson on June 15, 1951 at Immaculate Conception Church in Yuma, Arizona and she preceded him in death on April 23, 2021. Bob worked for Mosser Construction for sixty-five years, serving as president of the company and as the Chairman of the Board for many years. Bob was a life-long learner. He enjoyed traveling and sailing on Lake Erie and the Virgin Islands alongside his wife on the “ChaBob”. He was past president of the Fremont Country Club and won the first Member-Guest invitational in 1966. Bob was a member of the Port Clinton Yacht Club and enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians. He was a past president of the Association of General Contractors of Ohio.

Bob served on the Board of Directors of the Croghan Colonial Bank, Hayes Presidential Center, YMCA, Chamber of Commerce, Ohio Logistics and Chemi-Trol. Bob was instrumental in starting the Sandusky County Communities Foundation. He was a founding member of Sacred Heart Parish and the Catholic Education Development Fund. He was awarded the Heritage Award in 2001 from St. Joseph Central Catholic. He was an active member of the Rotary Club and a mentor at Fremont Ross High School. Bob always believed there was a solution for every problem in life. Bob was the recipient of the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the year award in 1999 and the first AGC Pinnacle Award in 2006.

Bob is survived by his children: Roberta Moyer, Charles (Jane) Moyer, Elizabeth (Garry) Kamstra, Susan (Bill) Barbour, Richard (Lisa) Moyer, Joseph Moyer and Jennifer (Mark) Cramer; fifteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Charline Moyer; granddaughter, Sara Barbour; great-grandchildren, Blake, Jordan and Faith Kamstra; siblings, Mary Ann (Jack) Cronin, Monsignor Richard Moyer; daughter-in-law, Deb Moyer.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at noon at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 550 Smith Rd. Fremont, OH 43420. The service will be live streamed on the Sacred Heart website. https://www.nationalwebcasts.com/webcasts/sheart/

Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery at 2:45 p.m. following the luncheon at the church.
