Richard “Dick” Alvin Bradfield, 89, of Fremont, OH passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at ProMedica Ebeid Hospice Residence in Sylvania, OH. He was born on October 17, 1927 in Cincinnati, OH, the son of Shirley Frances and Nelva (Van Horn) Bradfield. He was a graduate of Withrow High School and attended the University of Cincinnati.
Dick served in the U.S. Army from February 1, 1946 to April 30, 1947 and was awarded the WWII Victory Medal.
Dick married Margaret Rita Brockcamp on September 13, 1947 in Cincinnati and she preceded him in death on March 28, 1987. He was a Machinist and Shop Foreman at Glasstech, Inc. in Perrysburg, retiring in 1989 after many years of service. He had previously worked for Cincinnati Milling Machine, Planet Products, Borg Warner and Kelsey Hayes. Dick was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, bowling, dancing and traveling. He was an Eagle Scout and a Scout Master in Cincinnati and at Sacred Heart Church.
Dick is survived by his children, Susan (Gordon) Reyher, Vienna, GA, Kenneth “Blue” (Bonnie) Bradfield, Fremont, OH, Jack (Deb) Bradfield, Risingsun, OH, Richard “Rick” Bradfield, Sylvania, OH, James “Jim” (Junella) Bradfield, Genoa, OH, Thomas “Tom” Bradfield, Green Springs, OH; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; four nieces and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Margaret R. Bradfield; sons, Stephen “Steve” R. and Joseph “Joe” T. Bradfield; twin brother, Robert Bradfield and special friend, Teresa Schwartz.
Visitation: Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St., Fremont, OH with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m.
Service: Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 550 Smith Rd., Fremont, OH with Fr. Chris Kardzis officiating
Burial: McPherson Cemetery, Clyde, OH with military honors.
