Richard B. Overmyer

Richard B. Overmyer, 86, of Fremont, OH passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Monday, April 6, 2015. He was born on March 8, 1929 in Fremont, the son of Donald and Freda (Adams) Overmyer. He was a 1947 graduate of Fremont Ross High School.

Richard married Lucille M. “Lucy” Cloud on November 12, 1949 in Bellevue, OH and she survives. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War from November 20, 1951 to November 19, 1955 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

Richard was an Industrial Engineer at Ford Motor Co. in Sandusky, OH

for thirty-three years and retired in 1989. He enjoyed winters in Myrtle Beach, SC with his wife after retirement. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sporting events.

Richard is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Lucille M. Overmyer, Fremont, OH; children, Timothy Overmyer, Sandy Springs, GA, Terry (Linda) Overmyer, Thomas (Amy) Overmyer both of Fremont, OH, Todd (Sandy) Overmyer, Dawsonville, GA; grandchildren, Chad (Karen) Overmyer, Tampa, FL, Brittany (Rich) Szabo, Atlanta, GA, Lauren (Jeremy) Wadsworth, Clyde, OH, Ashley and Jaime Overmyer both of Fremont, OH, Ty (Lori) Overmyer, Dahlonega, GA, Tori Overmyer, Dawsonville, GA, step grandson, Shane (Abbe) Swartz, Fresno, CA; great-grandchildren, Davis and Rhys Overmyer, Emerson Wadsworth, Blaklee Overmyer; step great-grandchildren, Cameron, Brady and Demi Swartz.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, C.A. “Jim” Overmyer; sister-in-law, Mabel Overmyer.

Visitation: Friday from 4 – 7 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH.

Service: Friday, April 10, 2015, 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
