Raymond “Ray” J. Cunningham

Raymond “Ray” J. Cunningham, 91, of Green Springs, OH passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Valley View Healthcare Center. He was born on September 8, 1925 in Green Springs, OH to Charles and Bertha (Slope) Cunningham. He was a graduate of Old Fort High School.

Ray married Gladys J. Hartenstein on November 22, 1951 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fremont and she preceded him in death on July 4, 2010. Ray was a fastidious farmer. Past farm operations included many years of growing pickles and tomatoes with the assistance of faithful migrant help. He was named Sandusky County Farmer of the Year. He was a founding member of Sacred heart Catholic Church and an active member of the Sandusky County Democratic Party. Ray was an avid OSU fan.

Ray is survived by his In-Laws, Paul (Evelyn) Hartenstein, Wakeman, OH, Stephen (Carmie) Hartenstein and Judy Schleter both of Tiffin, OH, Gregory (Elaine) Hartenstein, Henrietta, NY, Patrick (Ann) Hartenstein, New Riegel, OH, Michael (Sue) Hartenstein, Albert Cook both of Fremont, OH, Stanley Miller, Tiffin, OH; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gladys J. Cunningham; brother, James (Florence) Cunningham; in-laws, Alfreda (Gerald) Dannemiller, Ethella Cook, Mercedes Miller and Robert Schleter.

Visitation: Sunday from 2 to 8 pm with a Vigil at 7:30 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH.

Mass of Christian Burial: Monday, November 14, 2016, 11:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 550 Smith Rd., Fremont, with one hour of visitation at church prior to the service. Fr. Chris Kardzis will officiate.

Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery
