Ramona "Mona" Young

Ramona “Mona” Mary Young, 73, of Fremont, OH passed away on April 24, 2025 at Fremont ProMedica Hospital. Mona was born on May 28, 1951 to Roman and Harriet (Maldonado) Lopez in Chicago, IL. Mona was a 1969 graduate of St. Joseph High School. Mona married Robert L. Young on February 28, 1971 at St. Ann’s Church in Fremont, OH and he preceded her in death on February 15, 2014.

Mona retired from KBI formally Delphi working in production. Financially savvy, Mona ran several of her own businesses. Mona enjoyed trying various hobbies including stained glass, sewing, gardening and couponing. She was a member of the UAW Hall local 913 retiree chapter and St. Ann’s Church.

Mona is survived by her children, Joseph (Tina) Young, Massachusetts, Marisa Young, Toledo; grandchildren, Alexandria, Clara, Sothy; great-granddaughter, Ayla; mother, Harriet Lopez; siblings, Carmelita (Robert) Yeisley, Lynn (John) Keyes, Ronald (Betty-Jane) Lopez, Felicia Obregon, Felix (Sandy) Lopez, Harriet (Martin) Hernandez, Bernadine (Jose) Martinez, Rachel (Scott) Lopez-Stine; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father, Roman Lopez; sister, Esperanza “Hope” Medellin, and great-granddaughter, Aspen.

Visitation: Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St. Fremont, OH 43420. There will be a short service where you will be able to share stories and memories that will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, May 2, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 1021 W. State St. Fremont, OH 43420 with an hour of visitation prior starting at 9 a.m. at the church.

Burial will follow mass at Oakwood Cemetery, Fremont, OH.

After a short and unexpected battle with cancer, Mona left us far too soon, surrounded by those who cared deeply and cherished every moment with her. The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice of Fremont, OH for their care during this difficult time.
