Ralph W. Fox, 94, of Fremont, OH passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2013 while residing at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, OH. He was born on May 12, 1919 in Carey, OH, the son of Ernest P. and Mary Anna (Kin) Fox.
Ralph served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII from October 9, 1940 to September 21, 1945. He was a Sergeant and served in the South Pacific and Cuba. He was awarded the WWII Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
Ralph married Evelyn Louise Hessick on November 10, 1945 in Carey, OH and she preceded him in death on October 17, 2004.
Ralph owned and operated Ralph Fox Home Improvement where his wife, Evelyn was the Secretary and Bookkeeper. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church. Ralph was a Life member of VFW Post 2947, American Legion Post 121 and the Russell Mook Detachment 279 of the Marine Corps League for 65 years where he was an officer for many years. He was awarded the Ohio Marine of the Year in 2008.
Ralph is survived by his nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn Louise Fox; sisters, Florence Kirian, Katherine Kieffer, Rita Ritter, Cecelia Fox, Martha Schetter and Lucille Reinhart- Ritter; brothers, Mathias, Jerome, Earnest, William and Donald Fox.
Visitation: Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home, 425 E. State St., Fremont, OH with a Marine Corps League at 7 p.m. with a rosary to follow.
Mass of Christian Burial: Friday at 10:30 am at St. Ann Catholic Church, 1021 W. State St, Fremont, OH with Fr. Michael Zacharias officiating.
Burial: Oakwood Cemetery, Fremont
