Phyllis May Long, 93, of Fremont, OH, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022 at Valley view Health Campus in Fremont. She was born on March 7, 1929 in Tiffin, OH to Lester and Elberta (Weaver) Field.
Phyllis married James “Jim” Long on June 26, 1996 and he survives. She was a homemaker, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Fremont. Her church and family were her two main loves. In her younger days Phyllis enjoyed roller skating, bowling and line dancing, sewing and SHOPPING. In her later years her passion was genealogy, working her puzzles, her cats and volunteering at Valley View where the residents looked forward to her “Chit-Chat with Phil” sessions. Over her 93 years she lived in Findlay, OH, Salem, NH and settled in Fremont for the last 30 years.
Phyllis made many memories with her grandchildren during their summer vacations in New Hampshire. She loved the holiday festivities especially decorating, baking cookies and made the best Thanksgiving dressing.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Paula Bibler, Fremont, OH, Cindy (Jim) Sherer, Toledo, OH and Steven Remsburg, Melbourne, FL; brother, Arvine (Linda) Field of Oklahoma; eighteen grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Darwin and Morton Field; sister, Kay Vermillion; son, James Shepard; great granddaughter, Jessica Bibler; son-in-law, Joe Bibler.
Visitation: Saturday, August 6, 2022, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH
Services will follow at 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
Burial: Pleasant Union Cemetery, Old Fort, OH
Memorials can be made to the Humane Society of Sandusky County.
