Phillip “Phil” Robert Daniels

January 26, 1941 — March 1, 2025

Lindsey

Phillip “Phil” “PR” Robert Daniels, 84, of Lindsey, OH passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Ottawa Riverview Health Care in Oak Harbor, OH. Phil was born on January 26, 1941 to Clarence and Edwina (Reed) Daniels in Fremont, OH. Phil was a 1959 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. Phil married JoAnn (Beekley) on April 12, 1961 and she preceded him in death on June 25, 1978.

Phil was a career National Guardsman, Sergeant First Class E7. After he retired from the Guard, he went into Civilian Contracting working on vehicles to send back overseas to Desert Storm for the troops. From that job he went to work for the City of Gibsonburg. He also served on the town council in Lindsey, working to make his community a great place to live. He volunteered a lot of his time to mowing, plowing, and helping make Lindsey beautiful. He was a Lindsey boy through and through. Before joining the Guard, he had worked other jobs, his first job was bagging groceries at A&P grocery store, and he went on to work for Nickels Bakery as a delivery person. He also hauled sugar beets for many years for a family friend. He was always on the go and never sat idle.

Phil grew up on the family farm raising cattle, sheep, chickens and many different crops. He briefly left to join Guard but eventually moved our family back to the farm where he raised his family. Eventually moving into town until his heart attack. He loved being outside and would go to a local campground where he had his 5th wheel parked and spent many weekends there. He had a large collection of trucks and military items. He looked forward to going to S.C.R.A.P. to look for things but mostly getting out and seeing friends. His favorite football team was Ohio State, which was fun as half the family is Ohio State fans and the other half is Michigan or “the team up north” a lot of good natured kidding. Phil was also an avid Cleveland Browns Fan.

Phil is survived by his wife, Joanne Daniels; children, Kimberly Mears, Sheri (Dave) Kopcak, Michael Daniels; grandchildren, Andy Wagner, Heather Wagner, Jennifer Kopcak, Nathan Kopcak, Sara (Shane) Durnwald, Ashley (Daniels) Ward; great grandchildren, TaShawn Heidelburg, TaShanti Heidelburg, Alexis Wagner, Kamryn Wagner, Peyton Durnwald, Rowan Ward; great great granddaughter, Camilla Torres.

Phil is preceded in death by his parents, first wife, JoAnn (Beekley) Daniels; infant daughter, Stacy Ann Daniels; grandson, Tyler Daniels; son-in-law, Rex Mears; second wife, Shirley.
