Peter Murray Sneath, 96, of Georgetown, SC and formerly of Fremont, OH passed away on January 30, 2023 at Valley View Health Care Campus. He was born on April 19, 1926 the son of William and Mona Jean (Murray) Sneath in Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire, England. Peter married Marjorie Taylor in 1951 and she preceded him in death on March 5, 2009.
Peter served in the Royal Army Medical Corps during WWII serving in India, Burma and China. Peter was educated in England at the University of Manchester and at the University of Bristol as a Bacteriologist. He was the Director of Laboratory Services of Memorial Hospital which included hospitals in Port Clinton, Bellevue, Fostoria and Napoleon until he retired in 1985.
Peter was an avid fisherman, hunter and a golfer. He was an active member in the Fremont Lions Club, Fremont Community Theater, Izaak Walton League, US Power Squadron, Fremont Yacht Club in addition to several professional medical organizations. Following retirement he moved to McClellanville and Georgetown, SC and was an active member of Belle Isle Yacht Club and the US Coast Guard Aux. He also served on the McClellanville town council for four years.
Peter is survived by his sons, Nicholas Sneath, Elmore, OH and Jeremy Sneath, Port Clinton, OH; grandchildren, Cameron (Karah) Sneath, Elmore, OH, Evan (Cyndi Williams) Sneath, Durango, CO and Lana (Gabriel) Zeigler, Denver, CO; great grandchildren, Aubrey and Stella Sneath.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marjorie Sneath and an infant sister.
