Paul Lamar Nickel, 92, of Fremont, OH passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at Bethesda Care Center. He was born July 7, 1925 in Fremont, the son of Warren and Ida (Bowersox) Nickel.
Paul served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was awarded the WWII Victory Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal and American Area Campaign Medal.
Paul worked at the New Departure Division of General Motors in Sandusky, OH for forty years where he retired. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, bowling and was an avid fan of watching horse racing.
Paul is survived by his sister, Marlene (Marvin) Mullholand, Fremont, OH and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald Nickel and sister, Lucille Faist.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 8, 2018, from 5 – 7 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH. Services will begin promptly at 7:00 pm with Pastor Scott Mauch officiating.
