Muriel D. Haynes

Muriel D. Haynes, 91, of Fremont, OH passed away on February 10, 2024 at Bowling Green Manor.  She was born on January 13, 1933 in Adrian, MI the daughter of Forrest P. and Thelma L. (Pruyne) Mossing.  She was a graduate of Adrian High School and received a nursing degree from Mercy College in Toledo, OH.  Muriel married David Haynes on May 8, 1954 in Adrian, MI and he preceded her in death on August 18, 2017.

Muriel worked as a home health nurse for Sandusky County until she retired in 1993. Muriel was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she sang in the choir, SERRA Club, Daughters of Isabella and Sacred Heart Altar Rosary.  She enjoyed reading, playing golf, bell collecting and traveling.  Muriel also loved to volunteer for Meals on Wheels and Hayes Presidential Center. 

Muriel is survived by her sons, Stephen M. (Mary Jo) Haynes, Atlanta, GA, Kenneth D. (Brenda) Haynes, Tontogany, OH and Matthew A. Haynes, Fremont; sister-in-law Carmita Mossing, Sunnyvale, CA; brother-in-law, Don (Barb) Haynes, Williamsburg, VA; grandchildren, Alex Haynes, Tory (Brett) Disher, Emily (Todd) Ery, Stan Haynes; great-grandchildren, Cormac and Jaclin Ery.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David Haynes; daughter, Martha Haynes; siblings, Maurice Mossing, Stanley Mossing, Gaylord “Jack” Mossing and Kay Dazey, grandson, Montgomery Haynes.

Visitation will take place on Friday, February 16, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St. Fremont, OH 43420.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday, February 17, 2024 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 550 Smith Rd, Fremont, OH 43420.

Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, Fremont, OH.

Memorials can be made in her honor to Sacred Heart Church or Bishop Hoffman Catholic School CEDF.
