Michael J. Reineck

Michael J. Reineck, 70, of Charleston, SC and formerly of Fremont, OH passed away on August 10, 2024 surrounded by his loving family at his daughter’s home in Fremont, OH. He was born on July 6, 1954 in Fremont, OH the son of Richard P. and Adeline (Gfell) Reineck. Mike was a 1972 graduate of St Joseph High School. 

Mike married Aileen (McLernon) Peterson on March 3, 1995 and she preceded him in death on October 16, 2016. He began his career as a co-owner of Michael Construction. He continued in the industry working for Mosser Construction in Fremont, OH. Mike relocated to Charleston, SC in 1996 where he was an officer for Stealth Concealment Solution until he retired in 2018. 

Mike enjoyed a variety of hobbies which included handball, playing cards, bike riding and motorcycles. He was also an avid reader, photographer, boxing spectator, patron of the arts and tour guide in Charleston, SC. In the tradition of his mother, Mike enjoyed welcoming and entertaining all those who paid him a visit. He had a wonderful and sharp sense of humor. He was proud to sponsor his annual “Mike Reineck’s not dead yet golf outing” which will be carried on in his name. Mike’s most prized possession was Maizie, his cat. 

Mike is survived by his children, Amber (Bryan) Root, Fremont, Abby (Geoffrey Sinner) Reineck, Erie, PA, Scott (JoAnn) Reineck, Columbus, Ross (Alissa) Reineck, Fremont, Caitlin (Joseph) Jacobs, Summerville, SC and John “Jake” Peterson, Charleston, SC; siblings, Sr. Susan Marie Reineck SND, Jacksonville, FL and Richard (Barb) Reineck, Fremont; grandchildren, Norah and Jack Root, Otto, Leona and Michael Sinner, Adeline, Violet, Lilah, Tristan, Jace, Reed Reineck, Connor and Elliott Jacobs and former wife, Connie Reineck, Fremont.

He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Aileen Reineck.

Mike’s family would like to thank his friends and care givers for their wonderful support throughout the past several months. 

Visitation will take place on Friday, August 16, 2024 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E State St., Fremont, OH.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 550 Smith Rd., Fremont, OH. Live streaming of Mass is available at https://www.sacredheart-fremont.org.
