Matthew “Matt” Lee Haas, 42, of Clyde, OH passed away on Friday, August 8, 2014, at Gateway Regional Hospital in Granite City, IL. He was born October 25, 1971 in Fremont, the son of William L. and Christine I. (Druckenmiller) Haas. He was a 1990 graduate of Fremont Ross High School.
Matt worked on Alaskan crab fishing boats at the age of eighteen. He was an Environmental Specialist for Denova Company until the time of his death. He had also taught Environmental Studies at the University of Findlay. Matt enjoyed fishing, hunting and golf. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Indian Fan. He also enjoyed racing, especially Jeff Gordon, sprint cars and traveling. Matt loved ice cream and spending time with his family.
Matt is survived by his son, Matthew “Kyle” (Charity Jeffries) Haas, Clyde, OH; parents, William L. (Kathie) Haas, Fremont, OH, Christine (Greg Hill) Haas, Clyde, OH; grandmother, Madaline Druckenmiller-Freeh, Fremont, OH; siblings, Jennifer Spitler, Fremont, OH, Marc Haas, Columbus, OH; nephew, Jakob Spitler, Fremont, OH; great niece, Annabelle A. Spitler; step sisters, Brittany Hill, Clyde, OH, Tiffany Hill, Boca Raton, FL; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Donald Druckenmiller, John Freeh; grandparents, William and Marian Haas; infant siblings, Andrew and Amber Haas.
