Mary L. (Frater) Baxter

Mary L. (Frater) Baxter, 99, of Fremont, OH passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Pristine Senior Living of Fremont. She was born on August 28, 1916 in Millbury, OH, the daughter of Charles H. and Bertha (McLargin) Bailey. She was a 1933 graduate of Fremont Ross High School.

Mary married James H. Frater on June 30, 1939 in Fremont and he preceded her in death on November 16, 1969. She married Earl Baxter on January 19, 1974 and he preceded her in death in 1979.

Mary was a Homemaker and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Rainbow Circle at church. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Ballville Farm Women, Fremont Federation of Women and Countywide Garden Club. She enjoyed playing pinochle, gardening, reading, crossword puzzles and spending time with her family.

Mary is survived by her children, Patricia “Pat” (David) Fleming, Judith “Judy” (C. Richard) Hufford, daughter-in-law, Marty Frater, all of Fremont, OH; grandchildren, James Hufford, Amy Purney, Tracy Hufford, Brian Frater, Anne Weiker, Michael Frater, Jonathan Fleming, Tammy Marqueling, Matthew Frater, Brett Hufford and Emily Boroff; twenty-two great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, James H. Frater; second husband, Earl Baxter; sons, James, Thomas and Michael Frater; brothers, Donald and Charles Bailey and sister, Marjorie Allison.

Visitation: Monday from 2 – 4 pm and 6 – 8 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH.

Service: Tuesday, March 8, 2016, 10:30 am at the funeral home.

Burial: Oakwood Cemetery, Fremont, OH
