Mary “Ellie” E. O’Brien

Mary “Ellie” E. O’Brien, 91, of Fremont, OH passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Elmwood Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing in Fremont. She was born on November 4, 1925 in Johnstown, PA to John E. and Josephine (Opeth) Davis.

Ellie married Robert J. O’Brien on July 6, 1946 in Johnstown, PA and he survives. Bob and Ellie founded O’Brien Realty and Insurance which they owned and operated for over fifty years.

Ellie was a founding member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and a long-time volunteer at the school cafeteria there. She was a Life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Eagles Ladies Auxiliary and Women of The Moose. She was the loving matriarch of her family.

Ellie’s last words of advice to her family were “Always be kind to yourselves, always be kind to one another and always have a pizza in your freezer, because everyone loves pizza”!

Ellie is survived by her loving husband of seventy years, Robert “Bob” J. O’Brien, Fremont, OH; children, M.J. Maire (Jack Evans), James (Nancy) O’Brien both of Fremont, OH, John (Julie) O’Brien, Milwaukee, WI and Kathleen (Henry) Fukui, St. Paul, MN; ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, John (Barb) Davis.

Ellie’s wishes were for cremation and requested no services.
