Mary C. Roller, 86, of Bettsville, OH, passed away on March 29, 2013 at Memorial Hospital in Fremont, OH. She was born on February 1, 1927 in Oak Harbor, OH to George and Delilah (Perry) Cross. Mary was a 1945 graduate of Oak Harbor High School and enjoyed attending their monthly class reunions. She married Thomas C. Roller in 1975 and he preceded her in death.
Mary worked at the Pittman’s five and ten store in Oak Harbor, the Erie Army Depot in Port Clinton during WWII, then for Joseph’s Department Store. She also worked as a Deputy Recorder for Seneca County Recorders Office for many years until she retired. Mary then worked for Otto and Urban Flowers part time.
She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and was a member of Abigail’s Circle. She played the piano in a band with her dad and brothers when she was a teenager. Mary was a Girl Scout and Brownie Leader for many years. She was a member of the D.A.R. and Colonial Dames. She enjoyed reading and was a seamstress making many wedding dresses and working part time at the bridal store in Bettsville, OH.
Mary is survived by her children, Patricia A. McCarty, Fremont, OH and Paul (Robin) Wargowsky, Jackson, OH; step children, Thomas (Alice) Roller, Jr. and Marjorie Roller both of Bowling Green, OH; three grandchildren, five great grandchildren and several step grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Frederick A. Wargowsky; second husband, Thomas C. Roller, Sr.; step children, Michael Roller and Mary Book, brothers, Charles and Edgar Cross.
Visitation: Thursday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 212 N. Clover St., Fremont, OH.
Celebration of Life Service: Thursday, April 4, 2013; 11:00 a.m. at the church with Pastor Joseph Lees officiating.
Burial: New Bellville Ridge Cemetery, Perrysburg Township, Wood County at a later date.
