Mary Myrlleen (Hazen) Bennison

Mary Myrlleen (Hazen) Bennison, 81, of Fremont, OH went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at Valley View Health Campus in Fremont. She was born to Ralph and Pauline (Bare) Hazen on May 8, 1943, in Ballville, OH. She grew up in Green Springs, OH and graduated from Green Springs High School in 1961. Mary Myrlleen married John R. Bennison on June 17, 1961, and they celebrated many anniversaries until his passing on October 2, 2017.

Mary Myrlleen enjoying spending time with her family and loved dogs. She also enjoyed sewing, making hand decorated note cards, reading, looking through the newspaper, laughing at the daily Maxine jokes on her calendar, listening to Elvis, playing games, and camping with family and friends. She was a person of faith and was a long time member of East Side Presbyterian Church.

Mary worked in various factory settings prior to making a career move to working with older adults - first at Bethesda Care Center and then Countryside Care Center from where she retired. Mary enjoyed coordinating activities and providing care to those she served.

Mary Myrlleen is survived by her sister, Carol Fox, as well as her daughter, Karen (Paul) Waltermeyer, granddaughter Nicole (Travis) Gee and great granddaughter, Reaghen and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, John.

Memorial Visitation will take place on Saturday, March 29, 2025 from 10 to 11 a.m. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E State St., Fremont, OH.

Burial will take place at McGormley Cemetery, Ballville Township.

In lieu of flowers, memorials made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Humane Society of Sandusky County or any other cause that has meaning to you, would be a great tribute to Mary Myrlleen’s memory.
