Marvin R. Schlea, 86, of Fremont, Ohio passed away unexpectedly while visiting Mesquite, Nevada on December 14, 2016. He was born on December 6, 1930 in Gibsonburg, Ohio to the late Edwin C. and Viola M. (VanNess) Schlea. He was a 1948 graduate of Gibsonburg High School and a 1950 graduate of Tiffin University. He served in the US Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
Marv married Carolyn Miller on July 3, 1981 at Zion Lutheran Church in Gibsonburg and she preceded him in death on September 20, 2010. Marv worked at Toledo Edison for many years, retiring as a Senior Estimator in the Engineering Department in 1990.
Marv was a longtime member of the Fremont Eagles #712 and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan. He was a harness racing enthusiast, annually attending the Little Brown Jug as well as many county fairs. Marv also greatly enjoyed traveling, especially driving each year to Mesquite, Nevada.
Marv is survived by his children, Michael Schlea, Clyde, Ohio, Julie (Dan) Berkheimer, Avon, Ohio and Mary Jo (Eric) Diekman, Medina, Ohio; step-children, Tami (Fred) Furlong and Michelle Miller, Delaware, Ohio, Denisa Cellar, Worthington, Ohio and Michael Miller, Columbus, Ohio; brother, Donald Schlea, Gibsonburg, Ohio; five grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Marv is preceded in death by his siblings, Thelma Taulker and Robert Schlea.
