Lynne M. Abernathy, 66, of Clyde, OH passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at St. Vincent’s Regional Medical Center in Toledo, OH. Lynne was born on March 11, 1958 to Lester Charles and Joyce Ann (Fredericks) Nowak in Fremont. She was a 1976 graduate of Old Fort High School. Lynne married Kenneth Abernathy on April 27, 1975 in Fremont and he survives.
Lynne was a devoted member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Fremont, cherishing her faith and community. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially attending her grandchildren’s events and milestones. Lynne had a passion for traveling, camping, cooking, and shopping. She took great pride in the beautiful landscaping and gardens she lovingly maintained with her husband. A loyal fan of OSU football, the Cleveland Guardians, and the Boston Celtics, Lynne shared her enthusiasm for sports with those she loved. Some of her happiest memories were made traveling to Disney World and enjoying Caribbean cruises with her family, creating cherished moments that will forever live in their hearts.
Lynne is survived by her husband of forty-nine years, Ken Abernathy; mother, Joyce Nowak, Fremont, OH; children, Matthew (Abby) Abernathy, Port Clinton, OH, Joshua Abernathy, Toledo, OH, Michael (Kate) Abernathy, Bellingham, WA, Melissa (Luke) Kingsborough, Clyde, OH; siblings, Lester Nowak Jr., Fremont, OH, Laura Nowak, Las Vagas, NV, Lisa Hartman, Libby Pena both of Fremont, OH; grandchildren, Brandon (McKenna Bobosky) Abernathy, Jenna Schober, Brianna Abernathy, Derek Abernathy, Kyle Abernathy, Eleanor Kingsborough, Rory Kingsborough, Ozzy Kingsborough and great-grandson, Kai Abernathy.
She is preceded in death by her father, Lester Nowak and brother, Lee Nowak.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, January 9, 2025 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E State St., Fremont, OH.
Services will take place Saturday, January 11, 2025 1:00 p.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1509 Cedar St., Fremont, OH 43420. The family will greet friends from 12 to 1 p.m. at the church.
Memorials can be made in her honor to Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
