Lee Ann Rucker, 82, of Fremont, OH passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Sunday, January 16, 2022. She was born on September 11, 1939 in Paulding, MS, the daughter of Samuel and Lillie Mae (McKinstry) Clayton. She was a graduate of Heidelberg High School in Heidelberg, MS. Lee Ann later relocated to Fremont, OH from Mississippi where she met and married Isaac Rucker on December 22, 1975 and he preceded her in death on May 20, 1994.
Lee Ann worked at Whirlpool Corporation for over thirty years and held the title of supervisor for the majority of those; she happily retired in 2000. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church and served as their financial secretary for over twenty years. Lee Ann loved to shop, and it definitely showed through her memorable style of fashion. She was a fashionista with a passion for shoes. She also loved to prepare delicious meals especially her famous homemade ice cream and pineapple cheesecake. She was known for her big New Year’s Day Celebration where she prepared a feast like no other. She cherished her sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was known as “Grandma Ann” to everyone.
Lee Ann is survived by her children, James (Lori) Clayton, Lindsay, OH, Robert (Bonnie) Clayton, Fremont, OH, step daughter, Arlinda (Keith) Lewis-Minniefield Sandusky, OH; grandchildren, Brooke (Joell) Heidelburg, Shantel Clayton, Robert Clayton, Jr., Cory Clayton; step grandchildren, Torrey (Rebecca) Lewis, Dalanea Johnson, Devin Johnson, Nicole Pettiford, Angela Davis, Ayanna (Monoah) Jones, Robert Liggins and Tyson Liggins; she was also blessed with a host of great grandchildren; special niece, Glendara Clayton, Columbus, OH and a host of devoted nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by, her parents; husband, Isaac Rucker; sister, Ethel Evans; stepson, Robert Craig Pettiford; niece, Sheila Taylor.
Visitation: Saturday, January 22, 2022, from 10:00 – 11:00 am at Great St. James Church, 629 N. Sixth St, Fremont, OH.
Services will follow at 11:00 am at the church with Pastor Chance officiating.
