Lanny Kenneth Sieving, 81, of Fremont, OH passed away peacefully at his home on September 25, 2023. Lanny was born to Harold and Viola (Kellogg) Sieving on April 4, 1942, in Fremont, OH. He was a 1960 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. Lanny joined the United States Air Force in 1960 leaving the service in 1964 as a E1 Airmen First Class receiving the Good Conduct Medal. While in the Air Force he was stationed in Greenland where there was a “blonde” behind every tree as he loved to jokingly tell his family and friends. Returning to the States, he was stationed in Plattsburg, NY. It was then that he met the love of his life Jean Smith with whom he was fortunate to spend fifty-nine years with. Lanny married Jean Smith in Burlington, VT on April 4, 1964 before returning to Fremont to live, work and raise their family. Lanny was employed at Gulf Oil for 10 years and Peter Eckrich and Sons for 9 years. While at Peter Eckrich and Sons he purchased Swim Rite Pools in 1984 where he acted as President until he retired in 2005. Lanny was a long-time member of the Fremont Moose and Fremont Eagles #712. He was involved with many trade organizations and in his free time enjoyed traveling and spending time with family.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Sieving; children; Traci (Keith) Davisson, Clyde, OH, Larry (Michele Kiess) Sieving, Fremont, OH, and Darla (Kurt) Jones, Helena, OH; daughter of his heart, Julie (Ron) Darr, Fremont; sister, Connie (Richard) Dagg, Norwalk, OH; grandchildren, Lauren (Lucas) Preston-Colvin, Matthew Sieving, Tyler and Hunter Jones, Saree (Matt) Sepeda, Trenton Weiss and Jason “JD” Davisson and great granddaughter, Skylaur Preston-Colvin.
Lanny is preceded in death by is parents and grandson, Evan Sieving.
Visitation: Thursday, September 28, 2023 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E State St., Fremont, OH.
Services: Friday, September 29, 2023; 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial: Oakwood Cemetery with military honors provided by the VFW and American Legion.
Memorials: DaVita Fremont Regional at Home or TRIPS.
