LaMar Garner, 87, of Fremont, OH passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. He was born in Fremont on April 24, 1933 to Laurel “Sam” and Helen S. (Sabo) Garner. He was a 1952 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. LaMar married Donna G. Krotzer on July 17, 1954 in Gibsonburg, OH and she survives. He was a tool & die maker at Singer Eaton Controls for forty years. He then worked for eleven years at Century Tool & Die where he retired.
LaMar was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church where he worked the sound system for more than fifty years, volunteered at church, served on the church council and as an usher. LaMar volunteered at Share & Care and served on the Board. He was a Cub Master and enjoyed traveling, remodeling and woodworking. LaMar was a very gentle kind person that loved his family dearly and would help them anyway that he could. He was the recipient of the 2013 Community Trustee of the Year presented by the Leadership of Sandusky County and Rotary Club of Fremont.
LaMar is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Donna G. Garner, Fremont, OH; children, Peggy Ochs, Tiffin, OH, Jan (Carolyn) Garner and Kevin (Sheryl) Garner both of Lindsey, OH, Lori (Robert) Finkel, Gahanna, OH; grandchildren, Stephanie, Jeremy and Josh Garner, Shawna Blunt, Ashleigh and Curtis Ochs, Brittney Bender, Zak Garner, Daniel Finkel and Sally Stowers; fourteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation: Friday, January 22, 2021 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E State St., Fremont, OH.
