Kenneth C. Murphy

Kenneth C. Murphy, 87, of Fremont, OH passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Bethesda Care Center. He was born on August 20, 1928 in Burgoon, OH, the son of Robert L. and Mildred L. (Baker) Murphy. He was a 1946 graduate of Jackson-Burgoon High School.

Kenneth served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War where he was awarded the Army Occupation Medal (Japan) with one Overseas Bar; Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star and the United Nations Service Medal. He married Melva G. Michaels on December 18, 1992 in Clyde, OH and she survives.

Kenneth worked at Our Lady of The Pines in the Maintenance Department for ten years and retired in 1993. He had previously worked at Associated Buyers for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and his dogs.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Melva G. Murphy; sister, Willow V. Schultz; one niece and two nephews; caregivers, Glen Ford and Helen Henry, all of Fremont, OH.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step son, Bradley Smith; brothers, Donald and Robert Murphy.

Visitation: Saturday from 10 – 11 am at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH.

Memorial Service: Saturday, June 11, 2016, 11:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor Hal Shaull officiating. Military Honors provided by the American Legion and VFW.
