Karen Kay Balduf, 86, of Fremont, passed away on March 31, 2024 surrounded by her family. Karen was born on May 29, 1937 to Homer and Edna (Knight) Thurn in Fremont. She was a 1955 graduate of Fremont Ross High School. Karen married Edward C. Miller on August 7, 1957 and he preceded her in death on July 1, 1971. She married Melvin Balduf Sr. on March 20, 1973 and he survives.
Karen worked at Rutherford House for many years, and also as an independent caregiver, and she was a food demonstrator. She enjoyed reading, bird watching, flowers, outdoor gardening, bowling and could hold a conversation with anyone.
Karen is survived by her husband of fifty-one years, Melvin Balduf Sr.; children, Chuck (Jerri) Miller, Scott (Tamara) Miller, TiAnne Humes all of Fremont, OH; sister, Sande (Richard) Arter of Indian Springs, OH; grandchildren, Caley Miller, Samantha (Paul) Newbold, Alexandra (Jeff) Mapus, Olivia (Mark) Maloney, Victoria (Kyle Croucher) Miller, Ryan Humes, Shannon Tea; great-granddaughters, Nora Mapus and Harper Newbold.
She is preceded in death by her parents and first husband, Edward C. Miller.
It was Karen’s wish to have no services at this time. A private celebration of life will take place at a later date.
Memorials can be made in her honor to Share and Care or donors’ choice to a wildlife organization.
