Julia Ruth Feagins

The journey of life for Julia Ruth Feagins paused briefly as she moved into our Almighty Father’s loving care on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at the age of 98. Her life began on August 13, 1922 in Seneca, SC as one of five children born to the late Major J. and Bessie (Benson) Alexander. She graduated from Oconee County Training School. She attended Spelman College and graduated from Lamar School of Nursing in Augusta, GA as a registered nurse.

Julia entered the U.S. Army Nurses Corp in 1945 until she transferred to the U.S. Air Force in 1948. She retired in July of 1965 as a Lt. Colonel where she received many honors and awards.

Julia married Jake C. Feagins on September 9, 1948 and he preceded her in death. She was a very active member Warren Chapel AME Church.

Visitation: Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St., Fremont, OH.

Funeral Service: Wednesday, June 30, 2021; 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with an hour of visitation prior to the service.

Burial: Oakwood Cemetery, Fremont, OH with military honors provided by the VFW and American Legion.
