Juanita Billow

Juanita Billow was born on January 17, 1930 in Fremont, OH to John and Elsie Linton.  She was a 1948 graduate of Fremont Ross High School.  She married Ralph Billow on January 16, 1949 at the Fremont Church of the Nazarene and he preceded her in death on April 10, 2021.   Juanita worked for Bellevue General Electric Company and the Hayes Presidential Center where she served as a guide at the Hayes Home for twenty years, retiring in 1992.  She was also a volunteer for Mobile Meals at Fremont Memorial Hospital for ten years.  She loved to bake and made wonderful homemade pies that were shared with many people.  As a sophomore in high school, Juanita began a wonderful friendship with Betty Hood, of Brisbane, Australia through a homework assignment to find a pen pal, and the two ladies have continued this friendship for more than seventy-five years involving their whole families in this relationship.  Betty visited her in 1974, 1992 and 2019, and Ralph and Juanita visited Australia in 1983 and 1996.  All of these trips were wonderful sight-seeing adventures made all the more memorable by their wonderful friendship.

Juanita is survived by sons, Ron (Margaret), Dennis (Sue), Steve (Deborah), and son-in-law, Jim Collum; grandchildren, Matthew (Heather), Vaughn, Alison (Nate) Hyde, Timothy (Hailey), Stacy (Ian) West, Stephanie Billow, Lisa Foreman, Brendon and Zachary Collum; great grandchildren, Jackson and Piper Billow, Audrey, Lily and Claire West; and sister, Janet Schroderer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph; daughter, Elaine Collum; sisters, Bonnie Humphrey, Pat Montgomery and brothers, John and Donald Linton.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Fremont Church of the Nazarene, 1925 N. Fifth St, Fremont, OH.

Services will begin at 1:00 pm at the church with Pastor Dan Vickey officiating.

Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery, Fremont, OH

A luncheon will follow the burial at the church.

Memorials can be made in Juanita’s honor to the Fremont Church of the Nazarene, Hayes Presidential Center, or the Sandusky County Historical Society.
