Joyce E. Zucker

Joyce E. Zucker, 79, of Finefrock Rd, Fremont, OH passed away surrounded by her family on Monday, May 27, 2013 at Countryside Continuing Care Center in Fremont. She was born on November 7, 1933 in Vickery, OH, the daughter of Charles and Lufina (Meyer) Nofz. She was a 1952 graduate of Fremont Ross High School.

Joyce married Donald N. Zucker, Sr. on January 3, 1953 at St. John’s Lutheran Church by the Rev. E.E. Zimmerman and he preceded her in death on December 23, 2007. She met the love of her life while working at Memorial Hospital. Don was there visiting his sick father. Joyce then worked at H.J. Heinz as an Administrative Assistant for twenty-three years and retired in 1992.

Joyce was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and The Rachael Circle. She was a Life member of the American Legion Auxiliary 8 ET 40 where she was State Chapeau, the Garden Club, VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Women of the Moose. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, flowers, reading romance novels and spending time with her family.

Joyce is survived by her children, Kimberly Brough, Melissa Bernard, Paula (Steve Koebel) Vassar, all of Fremont, OH, Vicki (Jeff) Trapp, Sr., Clyde, OH, Charles “Chuck” Zucker, Wakarusa, IN, Donald Zucker II, Fremont, OH; grandchildren, Eric (Shelly) Brough, Pandora, OH, Adam Brough, Phillip (Melisa) Bernard, Nicholas Vassar, Michelle “Jojo” Vassar, all of Fremont, OH, Jeff (Emily) Trapp, Jr., Norwalk, OH, Joshua and Justin Trapp both of Clyde, OH, Ashley Zucker, Wakarusa, IN, Robert (Nicole) Zucker and Nathan Zucker both of Fremont, OH; sisters, Ruth Staley, Fremont, OH and Judi Riefel Orange, CA; fourteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald N. Zucker and son-in-law, Mark Brough.
