Joseph H. Garlock, 85, of Fremont, OH passed away on Monday, June 10, 2024 at ProMedica Memorial Hospital. Joe was born in Sandusky, OH on June 4, 1939 to Daniel Hastings and Mary Catherine (Cooley) Garlock. He attended Sandusky High School. Joe served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal.
Joe married Erika Gerner on May 7, 1972 at the Faith Lutheran Church in Fremont and she preceded him in death on December 16, 2017. Joe worked as a forklift driver at Ludlow Composites and REXAM for over thirty years until he retired in 1997. He enjoyed fishing, watching his children play soccer and thrifting. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to give people gifts.
Joe is survived by his children, Dottie (Ken) Adams and Reuben Garlock both of Port Clinton, Matthew (Miranda) Garlock, Benjamin Garlock and Michael Garlock all of Fremont; grandchildren, Tony White, Brandi White, Hannah Castro, Erik, Avery, Michelle and Keegan Garlock and Caleb Wolford; great grandchildren, Max and Anna White; siblings, Daniel Garlock, Huron, OH, Irvin (Lilah) Garlock, Fremont and Ruth Rumford, Franklin, TN.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Erika Garlock; son, Joshua Garlock; grandson, Alexander Garlock; siblings, Anna McNutt, Hazel Dunmire, Dorothy Trusty and Sharon Garlock.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E State St., Fremont, OH.
Graveside service will take place on Thursday, June 13, 2024; 11:00 a.m. at Fourmile House Cemetery with military honors provided by the Fremont VFW and American Legion.
