John P. Swartz

John P. Swartz, 94 of Fremont, OH, passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at his daughter’s home.  He was born on July 9, 1927 in Sandusky County to Leroy and Lucy (Young) Swartz.  At the age of seventeen John enlisted in the Merchant Marines.   John married Teresa Shondell on January 22, 1949 at St. Joseph Catholic Church and shared fifty four years of marriage together until she passed away on November 21, 2003. He was a plasterer for many years until he retired in 2001.   John was formerly a member of St. Casimir’s Church.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, Moose and the VFW.

John is survived by his children, John M. (Denise) Swartz, of Florida, Judy (James) Laurer, Fremont, OH, Kathleen (Brian) Hall, of Florida and Christine Lechman, Fremont, OH; sister, Lois Barron; eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Teresa Swartz, brothers, Donald, Richard and Robert Swartz.

John’s wish is to have a graveside service at a later date.
