John “Jack” P. Mollinger, 82, of Fremont, OH passed away on Monday, January 11, 2016 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo. He was born June 11, 1933 in Fremont, OH, the son of John and Ruth (McKeever) Mollinger.
Jack served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War from September 28, 1950 to September 27, 1953 and was awarded the Korean Service medal with two Stars, the United Nations Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
Jack married Nancy Beier on March 30, 1968 in Winchester, VA and she preceded him in death on June 30, 2014. He worked as a Supervisor at Peter Eckrich for many years and retired in 1998. Jack was a Life member of the VFW and a member of the Fremont Elks and Moose Clubs. He was a volunteer Firefighter for Ballville Twp. Jack enjoyed playing cards, golfing, the annual Christmas party, being involved with his grandchildren’s activities, watching western movies, camping and his many dogs.
Jack is survived by his children, Cheryl (Mike) Ohms, Clyde, OH, Linda (Randy) Dennis, David Mollinger, Vickie Fulton, all of Fremont, OH, John P. (Zahra) Mollinger, Wapakoneta, OH; step children, Dolores (Andy) Capogrosso, Caroline (Bruce) Reed both of Fremont, OH, Tom (Marcia) Everett, Clyde, OH; fifteen grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; his beloved dog, Buddy; and many family members in Germany.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy Mollinger brother, Joe Mollinger and sisters, Rita Jeremy and Carolyn Owens.
Visitation: Thursday from 2 – 4 pm and 6 – 8 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH.
Service: Friday, January 15, 2016, 11:00 am at the funeral home with Funeral Celebrant Maureen Pump officiating.
Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the American Legion and VFW.
Memorials: American Cancer Society or Sandusky County Fair Board Agriculture Society.
