John “Fred” F. Hill, 82, of Green Springs, OH passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2013 at his home. He was born on November 12, 1930 in Findlay, OH, the son of Walter Myron and Lottie (Yokum) Hill. He married Evelyn Ferres on July 7, 1989 in Durant, OK and she preceded him in death on October 15, 2010.
John served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 with the 82nd Airborne during the Korean Conflict where he trained soldiers for battle. He worked as a steeple jack after the service. John worked as a Truck Driver for many years; most recently for Miarer Transportation. He also worked for the Village of Green Springs in the Maintenance Department.
John was a member of the Green Springs American Legion. He loved to drive his truck and tinker. John enjoyed outdoor activities, woodworking and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
John is survived by his children, Juanita (Paul) Marinoff, Fremont, OH, Kimberly Kincaid, Green Springs, OH, Avis Cole, Bellevue, OH, Alan (Michelle) Hill, Green Springs, OH, Gregg Hill, Sherman, TX and their mother, Wavalene Slane-Carlson, Fremont, OH; step children, Jimmy Carrick, Mt. Vernon, OH, Rhonda (Keith) Unkefer, Marblehead, OH, Pat (Diane) Giannini, Houston, TX, Robin (Glen) Chaney, Garland, TX, Dean (Lisa) Schiller, Jr., Oak Harbor, OH, Ruth Anne (Shannon) Blankenship, Pt. Clinton, OH; siblings, Melvin Hill, Sr., Sycamore, OH, Ivan Hill, Sr., Tiffin, OH, James Hill, Fremont, OH, Ruth Wise, Green Springs, OH; thirty grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn Hill; daughter, Lottie Lee Hill; siblings, William, David, Myron and Barbara Hill; and a grandson.
