Joanne M. Ochs

Joanne M. Ochs, 96, of Fremont, OH passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family. Joanne was born on September 10, 1928 to Ambrose and Delores (Hoffman) Haubert in Millersville, OH. She was a 1947 graduate of Jackson Burgoon High School.

Joanne married Walter E. Ochs on April 20, 1950 at St. Mary’s Church in Millersville, OH and he preceded her in death on April 2, 2003. Joanne worked with her husband and children on the family farm. She loved bowling, cooking, gardening and liked to travel. She was a devote Catholic and prayer warrior where she was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was a member of the Rosary Altar Society. She was also a member of the Sandusky County Farm Bureau. Joanne loved spending time with her family and loved to celebrate the holidays.

Joanne is survived by her children, Thomas J. Ochs, Marilyn S. Rice, Daniel W. (Sue) Ochs all of Fremont, OH, Connie M. (Ron) Hiser, Gibsonburg; grandchildren, Andrew (Megan) Rice, Steven (Krista) Rice, Tony (Jenna) Rice, David (Jessica) Rice, Alex Ochs, Brandon Ochs, Stephanie (Alan) Bowsher, Matthew (Jacqulyn) Hiser; seventeen great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Walter Ochs; an infant sister, Donna Haubert; siblings, William (Donna) Haubert, Janet (Don) Karbler, James (Barabara) Haubert, Donald (Jean) Haubert.

Visitation will take place on Friday, March 28, 2025 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 550 Smith Rd, Fremont, OH 43420.

Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the church.

Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Memorials can be made in her honor to Bishop Hoffman Catholic School, Sacred Heart Church, Heartland Hospice or Donors Choice.
