Joan L. Darr

Joan L. Darr, 89, of Fremont, OH passed away at home surrounded by her family on Saturday, May 1, 2021.  She was born March 9, 1932 in Rice Township to Glendon and Iowatta “Peg” (Atwater) Gressman.  She first attended Glosser School then attended Fremont Ross High School.  Joan was a homemaker and worked at Erie Ordinance, Pioneer Sugar, and retired from H.J. Heinz Co.  She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church. Joan loved playing cards with her Euchre club and was on a bowling team at Rainbow and Plaza Lanes.  She loved cooking, baking, gardening loved her animals, and leaves behind her beloved dog, Benji.  She was an avid Ohio State, Cleveland Indians and Browns fan.

Joan is survived by her children, David (Paula Halbach) Darr, Minneapolis, MN, Vicki (John Miller) Darr-Miller, Dublin, OH, Cheryl Stroempl, Fremont, OH, Debbie (Rich Doney) Baker, Burgoon, OH, James (Kirstin) Darr, Sugar Loaf, PA, Paula (Richard) Velez, Derwood, MD, Brian (Kimberly) Darr, Covington, LA; sister, Norma Miller, Fremont, OH; fifteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Glendon and Iowatta “Peg” Gressman; uncle and aunt, Carl and Beatrice Raehrs.

Visitation:  Thursday from 3:00 – 8:00 pm at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH.

Service:  Friday, May 7, 2021, 11:00 am at the funeral home.

The use of face masks are required while indoors.

Burial: Faith Lutheran Cemetery, CR 128, Rice Twp, OH
