Jeannie M. LeJeune

Jeannie M. LeJeune, 82, of Fremont, OH passed away on Monday, January 15, 2024 at Stein Hospice in Sandusky, OH.  She was born on October 23, 1941 in Washington Township to Zeno and Ruth (Moll) Walters.  Jeannie was a 1959 graduate of Fremont Ross High School and then went to beauty school.

Jeannie married Carl LeJeune on April 13, 1998 in Fremont, OH and he preceded her on April 15, 2005.  She worked for Cal Van Tools for twenty years until they closed.  Jeannie then went to work in the kitchen at the Sandusky County Sherriff’s Office for seven years.  She was a member of the VFW, the Moose Lodge, the Eagles and the American Legion where she was very active.  Jeannie enjoyed crafting, cooking, canning, gardening, preparing meals for shut-ins, foraging for morel mushrooms and loved entertaining people. 

Jeannie is survived by her children, Scott Keckler, Fremont, OH, Jonel (Bill) Booher, Orangeville, PA; brother, Dan Walters, Fremont, OH; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Jeannie is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Mark Keckler; sister, Virginia (Dan) Secrist and sister-in-law, Margie Walters.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 425 E State St., Fremont, OH.

The family would like to thank Stein Hospice for the loving care of Jeannie.

Services will take place on Sunday, January 21, 2024; 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Four Mile House Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials can be made in Jeannie’s honor to the family or donor’s choice.
