Jeanne M. (Kittle) Joseph passed away Saturday, March 13, 2021, at Bethesda Care Center in Fremont Ohio. She was 87 years old.
Jeanne was born on May 1, 1933 in Fremont, Ohio to the late James and Dorothy (Fought) Kittle. She married Ralph E. Joseph on December 27, 1949 and he died on July 21, 2001.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Jeanne was preceded in death by her sister, Marjorie (Kittle) Berlekamp.
She is survived by her brother, Bill (Janice) Kittle of Highlands Ranch, Colorado. She is also survived by her children, Janice (Tom) Johnson of Green Springs, Carol (Michael) McClure of Green Springs, Linda (David) Woodruff of Clyde, Brenda (Rick) Sherer of Fremont, Kevin (Sheryl) Joseph of Summerville, South Carolina and Jerry (Cindy) Joseph of Reynoldsburg, Ohio.
Jeanne is also survived by 14 grandchildren, Jody Shireman, Jeff Shireman, Chnea Roemelen, Kendra Shepard, McKensie Quaintance, Seneca Dahms, Erin Woodruff, Greg Woodruff, Greg Joseph, Brandon Maynard, Brandi Maynard, Kelly Joseph, Sam Joseph, and Rachel Joseph. She has 19 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Jeanne was a homemaker and a seamstress and was an active volunteer in many organizations in the Old Fort community where she spent most of her adult life. Jeanne served as the secretary for the Pleasant Union Cemetery for 32 years and proudly served on the Seneca County Board of Elections in Pleasant Township for nearly 50 years. Jeanne was also a charter member of the Old Fort Flames, a women’s auxiliary organization for the Old Fort Volunteer Fire Department. As a member of the Old Fort United Methodist Church, Jeanne belonged to the United Methodist Women’s group where she held many positions over the years.
Jeanne will best be remembered by her family for her endless support of all her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and activities. She traveled as frequently as she was able, to provide support and encouragement they could always count on.
She was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and all the Ohio State University athletic teams. Jeanne loved Triple Crown Horse races and the family often gathered to watch the events with her in her home. Many memories of family gatherings with Jeanne also centered around competitive card games, especially “31”, which Jeanne often won. Jeanne also enjoyed Bingo and played frequently. Jeanne was also known for always having the best chocolate chip cookies, readily available, for all who visited.
In the last 2 years of her life, Jeanne became a resident of the Bethesda Care Center in Fremont, Ohio. She enjoyed and appreciated the staff there for the wonderful friendships, caring attention, and for providing so many fun activities she looked forward to each week.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 17, 2021 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Horvath Hanes Funeral Home and Crematory, 211 N. Broadway St, Green Springs, OH 44836.
The use of face masks is required while indoors at all services. Social distancing will be observed throughout all services with wait times taking place outdoors. Due to covid, services will be held private for the family.
Burial will take place at Pleasant Union Cemetery in Old Fort.
Memorials may be made to the Old Fort Volunteer Fire Dept, Old Fort Church Building fund, Pleasant Union Cemetery, Bethesda Care Center activities fund or to the donor’s choice.
