Jane H. Nitschke

Jane H. Nitschke, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, went home to be with the Lord on August 16, 2023, surrounded by her loving family and the caring staff at Valley View Health Campus in Fremont.  She was a long-time resident of Fremont, Ohio and a former winter resident of Leesburg, Florida.  Jane was born on October 25, 1946 to Victor “Vic” Rathge and Ruth (Gore) Rathge, Deshler, Ohio.  She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, William “Bill” Rathge, Deshler Ohio.

Jane married Harold “Bud” Nitschke on June 23, 1984 in Fremont and he survives.  Also surviving are her daughter Kelly (Dave) Campbell, Fremont and grandchildren; Jessie Campbell of Fremont, Lilian Campbell of Nashville, Tennessee and Graham Campbell, Fremont.

Jane was a 1964 graduate of Deshler Local High School and a graduate of Findlay Beauty School and Mata IBM College.  She worked as a key punch operator, administrative assistant and bookkeeper and she retired from Tadbit/Intra-Trucking in 1996.

Jane was a “people person” who never met a stranger and she spoiled all those around her.  She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  She enjoyed wintering in Florida, spending time in the sun, boating, socializing and watching “Dancing with the Stars”.  She loved and spoiled her dogs and she lived a very full life in her 76 years.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held from 2:00pm-4:00pm on Sunday, August 20, 2023 at Wonderly Horvath Hanes Funeral Home 425 E. State St, Fremont, OH.

A Graveside Service and burial will be Tuesday, August 22, 2023, 11:00am at Oakwood Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to the Humane Society of Sandusky County.
